1.Why we established You&Me Youth Friendly Service Centers:
- Young people aged 10-24 account for 26%, or 33,800,000, of China's total population of 1.3 billion.
- Young people are becoming sexually mature earlier and marrying later, lengthening the period of time before marriage. Due to social, economic, and cultural factors and the pervasiveness of mixed messages in society, young people have a greater self-awareness of sexuality, are more liberal attitude towards sex, exhibit greater diversity in sexual morals, and are engaging in more premarital sex, causing premarital pregnancy and abortion to become prominent problems in society.
Fact: Of the 14 million women seeking abortion in China, 450 (32.1%) are adolescents. Every year, 54% of abortions are sought by unmarried women, the ages of which are increasingly dropping; now, the 18-20 year age group receives the most abortions. These girls have limited knowledge, and the number of them seeking two or more abortions is increasing also. The problem of teenage pregnancy can no longer be ignored by society.
- Young people lack economic resources, and cannot afford the costs of high quality reproductive health services.
- Free services provided by family planning associations target married couples.
- In September 2003, China's first You&Me youth friendly clinic was established in Qingdao.
- In April 2005, the second was established in Nanjing.
- In June 2006, the third was established in Nanning.
- Currently, more clinics are being established.

As of the end of 2006, You&Me clinics have serviced over 10,000 youth in clinical services and consultation, reached hundreds of thousands of working youth and students in outreach and educational activities, and

Professional, but not medicalized
MSI Goal #3: Pain experienced is related to anxiety, tension, and the surroundings. Such anxiety and tension is easily caused by traditional hospital colors, scents, instruments, service provider uniforms etc. MSI strives to avoid anxiety and tension caused by the surrounding.
You may enter our clinic nervous and anxious, but you will be surprised: there are no white gowns or no pungent disinfectant odors, and medical equipment is stored out of sight. Instead, you will see a smiling staff member, and find a safe, private safe, with fashion magazines, soft music, bright colors, cozy pictures…
The small, cozy, protective space feels just like home.
